Singapore congratulates Brunei Darussalam on the occasion of its 38th National Day

President Halimah Yacob, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan have written to His Majesty Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mui’zzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and ang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, Minister of Finance and Economy and Minister of Foreign Affairs to convey their congratulations on the occasion of Brunei's 38th National Day on 23 February 2022. Under Your Majesty’s strong leadership, Brunei demonstrated its resilience and unity through the COVID-19 pandemic, and played a critical role as the ASEAN Chair in navigating the region’s response to the pandemic and other challenges. As the world adapts to the post-pandemic normal, I am confident that Brunei will emerge stronger than ever.

Singapore and Brunei share a special relationship. Our bilateral cooperation remains strong in many sectors, and is bound by deep trust and a common desire to bring our peoples closer together. I look forward to further strengthening our bilateral ties.
