Hurricane Maria (now Category 5) is forecast to head towards the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico from 19 September 2017. According to the National Hurricane Center, Maria's core is expected to bring life-threatening winds, storm surge and rainfall impacts to those islands.
A state of emergency has been declared in the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico ahead of Hurricane Maria.
Singaporeans in the path of Hurricane Maria are advised to take the necessary precautions for their personal safety, including heeding the instructions of the local authorities, and monitoring local news.
