Notice regarding Hurricane Maria 19 September 2017

Hurricane Maria (now Category 5) is forecast to head towards the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico from 19 September 2017.  According to the National Hurricane Center, Maria's core is expected to bring life-threatening winds, storm surge and rainfall impacts to those islands.


A state of emergency has been declared in the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico ahead of Hurricane Maria.


Singaporeans in the path of Hurricane Maria are advised to take the necessary precautions for their personal safety, including heeding the instructions of the local authorities, and monitoring local news.  Singaporeans are also encouraged to keep your family and friends updated on your welfare.  For the latest information on the storm, please visit the National Weather Service website at http://www.weather.gov and the National Hurricane Center website at http://www.nhc.noaa.gov.
