Singapore and the Separate Customs Territory of Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen and Matsu (Chinese Taipei), both members of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), have signed the “Agreement between Singapore and the Separate Customs Territory of Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen and Matsu on Economic Partnership” (ASTEP) on 7 November 2013 in Singapore.  ASTEP was signed by Mr Calvin Eu, Trade Representative of the Singapore Trade Office in Taipei and Mr Hsieh Fa-dah, Representative of the Taipei Representative Office in Singapore.

ASTEP is a comprehensive and high quality agreement covering areas such as trade in goods, trade in services, investment, dispute settlement, e-commerce, government procurement and customs procedures.  It is expected that ASTEP will enhance economic cooperation between Singapore and Chinese Taipei and bring about significant benefits for the peoples of both sides.
