NEW CONSUL-GENERAL IN SHANGHAI MR CHUA TENG HOE, 25 MAY 2020

Consul-General Mr Chua Teng Hoe officially took over the appointment of CG from Mr Loh Tuck Wai on 25 May 2020. Prior to his appointment in Shanghai, Mr Chua was the Consul-General in Guangzhou from 2016 to 2020. 

Mr Chua joined the Singapore Foreign Service in 1992. In the Ministry’s Headquarters, Mr Chua had assumed various positions in Northeast Asia, Australia/New Zealand & the Pacific, International Economics, and Technical Co-operation Directorates.  Mr Chua was the Deputy Director-General of Northeast Asia Directorate in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2014 to 2016. Mr Chua had served in the Singapore Commission in Hong Kong (1994 to 1997) and the Singapore Embassy in Seoul (2001 to 2005).  He was Deputy High Commissioner in the Singapore High Commission in Canberra from 2010 to 2014.

Mr Chua graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the National University of Singapore and a Master of Science (Strategic Studies) from the Nanyang Technological University.

On 27 May, Mr Chua was granted a courtesy call on Shanghai Foreign Affairs Office Director-General Mr Zhang Xiaosong. The discussion was warm and friendly, and both sides agreed to keep up the frequent exchanges between Shanghai and Singapore officials under the Singapore-Shanghai Comprehensive Cooperation Council (SSCCC).
