Ambassador Stanley Loh, accompanied by Consul-General Ong Siew Gay, visited Suzhou last week to attend the celebration activities for the 18th Anniversary of the Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP). This was Ambassador Loh's first visit to Suzhou since assuming post in March. He was hosted to meals separately by Suzhou Party Secretary Jiang Hongkun and Acting Mayor Zhou Naixiang.

Ambassador witnessed Suzhou's remarkable transformation since his last visit in 2007. Both sides affirmed the project's numerous achievements since its inception: fostering a better quality of life for residents, acting as a model of modernisation for other Chinese cities, and fostering cooperation and friendly relations between China and Singapore. Recently, CSSD, the SIP's management company, collaborated with Anhui Province to develop an industrial park in Chuzhou, adding to SIP's role in promoting the development of inland cities. Besides the official meetings, Ambassador Loh officiated in the groundbreaking ceremony and MOU signing of several investments in Suzhou. His delegation also included officials from our Embassy in Beijing and the Shanghai Consulate-General.

CG Ong delivered remarks at the commemorative event.
