1 My delegation congratulates you on your election as President of the Thirty-Third Meeting of States Parties to the Convention, and assures you and the bureau of our full support.

 

2 We thank Judge Albert Hoffmann, President of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea, for the Tribunal’s report on activities in 2022 and his presentation of the report. 

 

3 My delegation reaffirms Singapore’s full support for the Tribunal.  We welcome the critical work of the Tribunal in upholding the rule of law in ocean governance.  We also welcome the Tribunal’s strong contributions towards capacity building for developing countries in the area of the law of the sea.

 

4 Singapore stands ready to contribute to the Tribunal’s important work in upholding the Convention, including through hosting hearings in Singapore pursuant to our Model Agreement with the Tribunal.
