STATEMENT BY MR MARK NEO, CHARGE D'AFFAIRES, PERMANENT MISSION OF SINGAPORE TO THE UNITED NATIONS AT THE 2012 UNITED NATIONS PLEDGING CONFERENCE FOR DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES FOR THE YEAR 2013, 14 NOVEMBER 2012

Thank you Madam President,

 

              I warmly congratulate you on your election.

 

Madam President,

 

              Singapore is pleased to pledge a sum totalling US$568,000.00 for the United Nations’ development activities for the year 2013. 

 

              The composition of our pledges is as follows:

 

a)            US$300,000 to the United Nations Development Programme;

b)            US$50,000 to the United Nations Children’s Fund;

c)            US$50,000 to the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women;

d)            US$20,000 to the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs;

e)            US$10,000 to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees;

f)             US$5,000 to the UN Population Fund;

g)            US$5,000 to the G77 Account for Economic Cooperation;

h)            US$50,000 to the Central Emergency Response Fund;

i)              US$5,000 to the Fund of the United Nations International Drug Control Programme;

j)              US$50,000 to the Fund of the United Nations Environment Programme;

k)            US$10,000 to the Trust Fund of the East Asian Seas;

l)              US$10,000 to the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights for Participation of Universal Periodic Review; and

m)          US$3,000 to the UN Voluntary Trust Fund for Victims of Trafficking in Persons

 

              Singapore will be making additional voluntary contributions for other activities during the year 2013 and pledges for these contributions will be made at the appropriate time.

 

             We hope that our pledges, together with those of other countries, will contribute to the efforts of these development programmes in meeting the objectives of the United Nations system.
