Visit by Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Trade and Industry and Ministry for Education, Chee Hong Tat to Hong Kong, 2-5 December 2018

Hong Kong, 5 December 2018.  Senior Minister of State (SMS), Ministry of Trade and Industry and Ministry for Education, Chee Hong Tat visited Hong Kong from 2-5 December 2018.   During his visit, SMS Chee called on Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Edward Yau and Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Patrick Nip to reaffirm the close Singapore-Hong Kong bilateral relations and explore potential avenues of collaboration in the Belt and Road Initiative and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.  SMS Chee was also hosted to separate meals by senior members of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce and Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce where they exchanged views on economic developments in both cities.  SMS Chee also visited the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park to get a sense of the policies the government has implemented to spur the development of the hi-tech sector in the city.

While in Hong Kong, SMS Chee visited the Singapore International School (Hong Kong) and had a productive dialogue with student leaders.  SMS Chee also met with the Singaporean community in Hong Kong where many thought provoking questions on education, geopolitics and developments in Singapore were raised.
