SINGAPORE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION 2023 - 1 SEPTEMBER 2023
The Elections Department and the Consulate-General of the Republic of Singapore in Hong Kong ("overseas polling station") are aware of Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 issued by the Hong Kong Observatory at 2.40 am today.
2 The poll for Presidential Election 2023 will proceed at the overseas polling station in Hong Kong from 8.00 am today. Voters assigned to vote at the overseas polling station are advised to cast their votes at the overseas polling station before 8.00 pm. Voters are also advised to vote early to avoid over-crowding which might occur near to the closing of the poll at 8.00 pm. For their safety, voters should closely monitor the latest advice from the local authorities before planning to head outdoors.
3 Nonetheless, in view of the Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 issued on Polling Day, overseas voters who registered to vote at the overseas polling station in Hong Kong but decide not to do so for their own safety, can reach out to the Elections Department to restore their names to Registers of Electors. The Elections Department will restore their names to the Registers of Electors. Once this is done, they may continue to vote in future elections, as long as they remain eligible voters.
