AWARD OF SINGAPORE SCHOLARSHIP TO VIETNAMESE STUDENTS 2014

16 Jul 2014

This August, a number of young Vietnamese scholars will join their ASEAN counterparts to pursue undergraduate studies in Singapore universities.  They are among the outstanding students in the region who have been awarded the prestigious Singapore Scholarship.

During the scholarship award ceremony held on 16 July 2014 which was attended by parents, teachers, family members and friends of scholarship recipients, the Singapore Ambassador to Vietnam, Mr NG Teck Hean, said that education is one of the key areas of cooperation between Singapore and Vietnam, and that Vietnamese scholars play an important role in fostering strong people-to-people ties between both countries.

Every year, the Singapore Government awards a limited number of the Singapore Scholarships to outstanding students from ASEAN member countries based on academic merit.  These scholarships are part of Singapore's contribution under the Singapore Cooperation Programme (SCP) to enhance human resources and people-to-people ties within ASEAN.  Successful candidates are fully-funded to pursue undergraduate degrees of their choice at one of Singapore’s universities.  The scholars are encouraged to return to their own country to contribute to its development upon graduation.
