Singapore underwent its third Universal Periodic Review (UPR) by the United Nations Human Rights Council on 12 May 2021 during the 38th session of the UPR Working Group. Our inter-ministerial delegation, which participated in hybrid-format, was led by Ambassador-at-Large Chan Heng Chee from Singapore, with our Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office at Geneva Ambassador Umej Bhatia delivering introductory remarks in-person. 140 Member States spoke at Singapore's UPR to share their comments and recommendations on Singapore's human rights journey. Ahead of our UPR, the Permanent Mission engaged each of the 140 Member States on our speaker's list, with Ambassador Bhatia speaking personally to over 40 of his counterparts.
