Permanent Representative to World Trade Organization (WTO) and World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Ambassador Tan Hung Seng deposited Singapore’s instrument of accession to the Locarno Agreement Establishing an International Classification for Industrial Designs with WIPO Director General Francis Gurry on 19 December 2019. It marks the 58th accession to the Locarno Agreement and Singapore is the first ASEAN country to do so. The Locarno Agreement is the WIPO-administered multilateral treaty that establishes an international classification for industrial designs. Also known as the Locarno classification, it makes the search process easier for users across different industrial designs databases.
