President Tony Tan Keng Yam has written to François Hollande, President of the French Republic, and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has written to Manuel Valls, Prime Minister of the French Republic, to convey their condolences over the attack on the offices of the weekly magazine, Charlie Hebdo, in Paris, France, on 7 January 2015. I am saddened to hear news of the act of terror committed at the offices of weekly magazine, Charlie Hebdo, in Paris. On behalf of the people of Singapore, I extend our condolences and sympathies to those who have been injured and the families who have lost loved ones in the attack.
As France mourns the victims, may the perpetrators be brought to justice swiftly, and may the wounded have a speedy recovery.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the grieving families. We wish them strength and fortitude during this difficult time.

Dear Prime Minister Valls,
I was shocked to learn of the brutal attack at the offices of the weekly magazine, Charlie Hebdo, in Paris that had claimed many lives. Singapore strongly condemns this savage act of terror. It reminds us that terrorism and extremism pose a serious threat to all civilised societies, and that it is totally wrong, and contrary to the values of all religious faiths, to invoke religion to justify such savagery.
I am confident that the perpetrators will be brought to justice and France will emerge stronger from this tragedy.
On behalf of the Government and people of Singapore, I offer our deepest condolences to the victims and their loved ones. Our thoughts are with you and the French people during this difficult time.
