If your passport is lost/stolen, you should report it immediately online at https://www.ica.gov.sg/documents/passport/loss. Please indicate the ‘Country Of Loss’ correctly (i.e. ‘Thailand’) when submitting the report. You then have the option of applying for a Document of Identity (DOI) online for urgent return to Singapore. Upon approval by ICA, the DOI will be issued to you in person at the Singapore Embassy in Bangkok.

Procedure to collect DOI from the Embassy after online application is approved

The Embassy will contact you when your DOI is ready for collection. Come to the Embassy during our opening hours, and bring along:

  1. Documentary proof of your citizenship and identity (preferably a photo ID such as NRIC or driving license, or Singpass Digital IC)
  2. Original copy of a police report lodged with the local Thai police on the loss of your passport in Thailand
  3. Fee for the DOI in cash (only if not paid online yet)

Should you be unable to report the loss online, you may contact the Singapore Embassy in Bangkok.  If you urgently require a travel document to return to Singapore, you may concurrently apply for a Document of Identity (DOI) through the Embassy.  Refer to ‘Procedure’ section below for details.  The DOI will be valid only for a single journey back to Singapore.

Procedure to apply for DOI through the Embassy

Before you come to the Embassy:

  1. Lodge a police report with the local police (The original report, which can be in Thai and/or English, has to be submitted to the Embassy when you apply for the DOI).
  2. Prepare two clear, colour passport-size photographs taken against a white background with matte or semi matte finish.
  3. Contact the Singapore Embassy’s Consular Section or Duty Officer (if after office hours) to arrange for an appointment to collect the DOI.
