SINGAPORE SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS CEREMONY

Thirteen outstanding Filipino students have been awarded the Singapore Scholarship for academic year 2004/2005. The Scholarships, worth over 50 million pesos, are fully funded by the Singapore Government. They cover the students' tuition fees, airfares and an annual living allowance. The scholars will leave for Singapore from late July to begin their respective three to four year undergraduate programmes at the National University of Singapore, the Nanyang Technological University or the Singapore Management University.

The Singapore Embassy is hosting a Singapore Scholarship Awards Ceremony at 3.00 pm on Wednesday, 7 July 2004, at the Camellia-Dahlia Room of Dusit Hotel Nikko, Makati City. Singapore's Ambassador to the Philippines, Ms LIM Kheng Hua, will present the awards to the scholars. First Daughter Luli M Arroyo, the guest-of-honour, will deliver an address to the scholars and guests. Senior officials of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Department of Education, and NEDA will join the scholars and their family members for this occasion.

The Singapore Embassy will host a merienda following the presentation of the Scholarship.

The media is cordially invited to attend the Singapore Scholarship Award Ceremony at the Dusit Nikko Hotel. There will be opportunities for members of the media to meet and interview the scholars.
