Senior Parliamentary Secretary (Education) and Manpower Low Yen Ling attended the opening ceremony of the 12th China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week in Guiyang City, Guizhou Province on 22 July. Shen Yiqin, Governor of Guizhou Provincial People’s Government, Tian Xuejun, Vice Minister for Education of China, and representatives from education sector of ASEAN countries were also present. In her remarks, SPS reaffirmed the close cooperation between ASEAN and China in the education sector, including the launch of the ASEAN-China Young Leaders Scholarship programme. It provides full scholarship awards for deserving ASEAN students to pursue postgraduate degrees, short-term research or training courses in universities in China. SPS also introduced the longstanding and close education ties between Singapore and China. Going forward, both countries would strengthen cooperation in various areas, including technical and vocational education and training, teachers’ exchanges and training, student visits and internship programme.
