08 Aug 2017

The ASEAN Committee in Cairo (ACC) organised a special event to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the founding of ASEAN on 8 August 2017. The event, held at the Conrad Hotel, featured the cuisines and cultures of the ASEAN Member States. The event was graced by Guest of Honour, Minister of Trade and Industry Tarek Kabil, many Egyptian senior officials, members of the Diplomatic Corp representing ASEAN Dialogue Partners and regional and international organisations. In his remarks, Minister Tarek Kabil commended ASEAN's achievements, and expressed the hope that Egypt and ASEAN would elevate relations over the next 50 years.

ASEAN (The Association of Southeast Asian Nations) is a regional bloc of 10 Member States (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam) with a combined population of over 630 million people and an economy of US$2.6 trillion.

We look forward to another 50 years of successful and productive exchanges between ASEAN, its Dialogue Partners, Egypt and the World.
