Senior Minister of State (SMS), Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of National Development, Sim Ann visited Changsha, Hunan, from 7 to 9 January 2024. SMS was accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Enterprise Singapore.
SMS called on Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Hunan Provincial Committee Shen Xiaoming, and met Standing Committee Member of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and Secretary of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee Wu Guiying. They reaffirmed the warm ties between Singapore and Hunan, and noted the strong presence of Singapore companies in Hunan in areas such as logistics, infrastructure development, sustainability, and education. They discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in areas such as connectivity, urban development, and the green economy, and to facilitate cultural and people-to-people exchanges.
SMS visited Hunan companies and the China (Hunan) Pilot Free Trade Zone to learn more about Hunan’s economic priorities and developments. SMS also engaged representatives of Singapore companies with projects and investments in Hunan.
SMS will return to Singapore this evening.
