Vietnam National Assembly Vice President HE Nguyen Duc Kien called on President S R Nathan on 24 April 2009. During the meeting, they affirmed the strong and warm relations between the two countries. They expressed satisfaction on the progress of the cooperation and joint projects between the two countries. President also encouraged strengthening cooperation between the Vietnam National Assembly and the Parliament of Singapore.
The 10-member delegation led by Vice President Kien is here on a five-day official visit at the invitation of Deputy Speaker of Parliament Matthias Yao, whom they met on 23 April 2009. During the visit, they also received briefings from the Urban Redevelopment Authority, Attorney-General's Chambers, the Monetary Authority of Singapore, Housing and Development Board, Jurong Island and the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy.
