MFA Spokesman's Comments in response to media queries on President Hu Jintao's six point proposal to promote the peaceful development of Cross Straits relations

In response to media queries on President Hu Jintao's six point proposal to promote the peaceful development of Cross Straits relations, the MFA spokesman said:

"This is a very significant development that Singapore welcomes. President Hu Jintao's six point proposal is a historic opportunity to definitively end Cross Straits tensions. This will be good for the Chinese people on both sides of the Straits and for the region as a whole. Improved Cross Straits relations will enhance stability and prosperity for all of us."
