Minister for Transport and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs Raymond Lim has sent a condolence letter to Indonesian Minister of Transportation Jusman Syafi'i Djamal on the sinking of a ferry off the coast of West Sulawesi early Sunday morning, 11 January 2009. Dear Pak Jusman,
I was saddened by news of the sinking of a ferry off the coast of West Sulawesi in the early hours of Sunday morning and that more than 200 people are still missing. I understand that the Indonesian government has already launched extensive search and rescue efforts in the area, and sincerely hope that more survivors will be found.
Please accept my deepest sympathies on this tragic incident.
