In response to media queries on the launch of direct cross-strait air, sea and postal links on 15 December 2008, the MFA spokesman said:

"Singapore warmly welcomes the launch of direct air, sea and postal links between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait. This will allow enhanced cross-strait economic and people-to-people exchanges, and both sides can derive the win-win benefits of this advancement in cross-strait dialogue and cooperation. This positive development will be good for regional stability."
