MFA Press Statement: Minister For Foreign Affairs George Yeo Visits Salt Lake City, Utah, USA 7 October 2008

Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo visited Salt Lake City (Utah, USA) on 7 October 2008 and was hosted to dinner by Utah Governor Jon Huntsman. They discussed many issues of mutual concern, including the global financial crisis and the US elections.

Minister Yeo also met with the First Presidency of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints (LDS) - Presidents Thomas Monson, Henry Eyring and Dieter Uchtdorf. They discussed the global humanitarian work of the LDS and the main challenges facing the LDS. In addition, Minister Yeo was hosted to lunch by Elder Dallin Oaks of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, LDS. Elder Oaks and his colleagues gave Minister Yeo a briefing on the history of the LDS and its missionary work overseas.

Minister Yeo also toured the LDS Humanitarian Center and the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City.
