The Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr Surin Pitsuwan, called on the Prime Minister today. They exchanged views on developments in the region and ASEAN. Both agreed that ASEAN had to press forward in its integration efforts and ratify the ASEAN Charter by the coming Summit in Bangkok, and that the ASEAN Secretariat would play an important role in facilitating this process. Dr Surin Pitsuwan also called on Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew and Foreign Minister George Yeo.
