MFA Press Statement: Official Visit of Deputy Prime Minister Of Oman, His Highness Sayyid Fahad Mahmood Al-Said to Singapore, 9 to 12 December 2007

At the invitation of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, His Highness Sayyid Fahad Mahmood Al-Said, Deputy Prime Minister of the Sultanate of Oman, will visit Singapore from 9-12 December 2007. His Highness will be accompanied by a high-level delegation that includes five ministers, namely, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs Yousuf Alawi Abdulla, Minister of Commerce and Industry Maqbool Ali Sultan, Minister of Oil and Gas Dr Mohammed Hamad Saif Al-Rumhi, Minister of Agriculture Sheikh Salim Hilal Al-Khalili and Minister of Information Hamed Mohammed Al-Rashdi. His Highness will also be accompanied by senior officials, including his son His Highness Sayyid Kamil Fahad Mahmood Al-Said, and a business delegation.

During his visit, His Highness will call on President S R Nathan and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. He will be hosted to dinner by Prime Minister Lee and lunch by Deputy Prime Minister, Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Law Prof S Jayakumar. His Highness will receive a briefing on Singapore's economic and research policies by the Economic Development Board (EDB) and the Agency for Science, Technology and Reasearch (A*STAR).

Prime Minister Lee and His Highness will witness the signing of an Investment Guarantee Agreement (IGA) between Singapore Minister for Trade and Industry Lim Hng Kiang and Oman Minister of Commerce and Industry Maqbool Ali Sultan. His Highness will also visit Muscat Street and receive an update on a bilateral project to reconstruct a 9th century Dhow.
