MFA Press Statement: President Of The Czech Republic, H.E. Mr Václav Klaus' Meetings With President S R Nathan And Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong

Czech President Václav Klaus, who is on a state visit to Singapore from 3 to 5 October 2006, called on President S R Nathan, and met with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on 3 October 2006.

During President Klaus' call on President Nathan, they agreed that there was potential for greater bilateral cooperation over a broad range of areas. Both leaders exchanged views on regional developments. President Nathan updated President Klaus on the ongoing efforts at deepening ASEAN integration to meet the changing global and political situation.

Prime Minister Lee and President Klaus discussed the economic developments in Asia and Europe, and agreed on the importance for Europe to continue its engagement of the region. The two leaders also exchanged views on how to further expand economic cooperation between Singapore and the Czech Republic.
