MFA Press Statement : Appointment of Singapore's Ambassador to The Kingdom of Thailand

MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS PRESS STATEMENT

APPOINTMENT OF SINGAPORE'S AMBASSADOR TO THE KINGDOM OF THAILAND

The Government has appointed Mr Peter Chan Jer Hing as Singapore's next Ambassador to the Kingdom of Thailand.

Mr Chan was a President's Scholar and graduated with a Bachelor of Social Science honours degree in 1970 from the University of Singapore. He obtained a Master of Arts from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy in the United States in 1976.

Mr Chan was Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Chief Executive Officer of the Housing and Development Board and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of National Development. Mr Chan retired from the Administrative Service in April 2004.

While in the Foreign Ministry from 1970 to 1993, Mr Chan served in the Singapore High Commission in New Delhi and the Singapore Embassy in Washington DC. Mr Chan will assume post on 7 November 2005.
