The 7th Coordinating Meeting of the Thailand-Singapore Civil Service Exchange Programme (CSEP) will be held in Singapore on 1-2 August 2005. Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo and his Thai counterpart Dr Kantathi Suphamongkhon will officiate at the opening ceremony. Dr Kantathi will call on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong while in Singapore.

CSEP was inaugurated in 1998 with the objectives of strengthening linkages between the civil services of Singapore and Thailand, enhancing bilateral relations and exploring new avenues of cooperation. Coordinating meetings are held annually and the venue alternates between Singapore and Bangkok. The interaction between the two civil services over the years has promoted substantial cooperation in areas such as education, health, youth cooperation, media and the arts.

The 7th CSEP Meeting will be co-chaired by Mr Peter Ho, Permanent Secretary (Foreign Affairs) of Singapore and Dr Krit Garnjana-Goonchorn, Permanent Secretary (Foreign Affairs) of Thailand. Senior officials from a range of ministries and government agencies will discuss the state of cooperation between both civil services, as well as new proposals for further cooperation.
