Over 7000 kilometres away and sitting just above the Equator – what does Singapore have to do with the Arctic?

 

Besides rising sea levels which would affect our low-lying island, fast-melting Arctic ice could also lead to the opening of the Northern Sea Route, shortening Europe-Asia travel time by approximately 5 to 10 days.

 

As an Arctic Council observer, Singapore gains insights into the impact of Arctic developments on us and our position as one of the world’s busiest ports.
