COVID-19 SITUATION IN EGYPT
Egypt has extended its nationwide night time curfew until further notice. The night time curfew will be imposed from 8:00 pm to 5:00 am. During the curfew, members of the public are not allowed to leave their residences, except for emergencies. Commercial outlets and public services, including transportation, will be suspended during the curfew. In addition to the curfew restrictions, large-scale events and gatherings are disallowed. The wearing of protective masks outside of the home, in confined spaces, and on public and private transportation, is required by law. Singaporeans are advised to monitor local media to stay updated on measures in place to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
The Singapore Embassy in Cairo is closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation in Egypt and would like to remind all Singaporeans in Egypt to take extra health and safety precautions during this time. Singaporeans who are still in Egypt should practice social distancing, avoid crowded areas and upkeep their personal hygiene. Singaporeans should also keep abreast of local developments by monitoring the local media and official social media pages of the Egyptian government agencies.
Closure of Airports in Egypt
All airports across Egypt will remain closed until further notice. Regularly-scheduled commercial flights will not operate until the airports re-open. Affected Singaporeans should contact their respective airlines or travel agents for flight re-bookings once airports resume operations.
Singaporeans who are instructed to be quarantined for observation, hospitalised in Egypt or require urgent consular assistance should contact the Embassy’s 24/7 Duty Officer at +20 109 806 4310 or the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Duty Officer at +65 6379 8000. Singaporeans in Egypt are also encouraged to e-Register with MFA at www.mfa.gov.sg to allow the Embassy to contact them in the event of an emergency or crisis.
