Notice regarding Hurricane Florence - Update on 10 September 2018

Hurricane Florence has been upgraded to a Category 4 storm with winds of around 130 mph. According to the National Hurricane Center (NHC), the storm is likely to strengthen to 150 mph just before landfall somewhere on the Southeast US coast later this week. Life-threatening storm surges, freshwater flooding and damaging hurricane-force winds are likely along potions of the coast of South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia.

 

In addition to South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia, a state of emergency has been declared in Maryland. South Carolina Governor has ordered the mandatory evacuation of eight counties along South Carolina’s coast. A mandatory evaluation order is also in place for North Carolina’s Dare County.  

 

Singaporeans in the path of Hurricane Florence are advised to be vigilant, take necessary precautions for your personal safety, ensure that you have your hurricane plan in place, and heed the instructions of the local authorities at all times, including evacuation orders and monitor local news.Singaporeans are also encouraged to keep your family and friends updated on your welfare so that they know you are safe.
