Entry and Exit
Singaporeans can visit Montenegro for up to 90 days without a visa, provided no employment is pursued. Travellers should note that Montenegro is not part of the Schengen Area.
As immigration requirements can change at short notice, travellers are advised to contact their travel agent or nearest Embassy of Montenegro in Beijing (china@mfa.gov.me) for the latest information.
Montenegrin nationals seeking urgent consular assistance may contact the Polish Embassy in Singapore (singapore.secretary@msz.gov.pl, +65 6235 9478, or in case of emergency, +65 9656 6298).
Safety and Security
Petty crime directed at foreigners does occur. Avoid carrying large amounts of cash or wearing jewellery. Travel in groups.
Gang-related bombings and gun violence can occur. Monitor the local news and avoid areas where gangs are known to be active. Remain vigilant at all times.
Protests and demonstrations do occur, especially along the border area with neighbouring Kosovo. Exercise caution, avoid affected areas, monitor developments through the local news, and heed the instructions of the local authorities. If there is evidence of unrest, head to a safe place immediately.
Many roads are in poor condition. Drivers should be aware of the road conditions and drive cautiously at all times. Drivers are also strongly encouraged to purchase a comprehensive insurance plan that covers vehicle incidents.
Local Laws
It is mandatory to register with the local police within the first 24 hours of arrival in Montenegro. This should be arranged by your hotel or host.
Identification documents should be produced on request. Those who are unable to do so may be fined.
Drug offences carry heavy penalties. Pack your own luggage and do not accept ‘gifts’ from strangers or new acquaintances.
It is illegal to photograph buildings of national and strategic importance, including the police and military institutions.
Additional Information
Earthquakes are not common but can occur. Wildfires and floods are also common at particular times of the year. Visitors are advised to monitor the local news and the latest regional weather forecasts. Purchase comprehensive travel insurance before departure.
