Malta
Use our advice together with your own research from reputable sources to plan your trip.
Entry and Exit
Malta is part of the Schengen Area. Singaporeans may enter Malta without a visa for up to 90 days within any 180-day period, subject to immigration clearance and meeting entry conditions.
Travellers entering the Schengen Area should ensure that their passport: is valid for at least 3 months after the intended date of departure from the Schengen Area; and has been issued within the last 10 years.
EU Entry/Exit System (EES)
From 12 October 2025, Schengen countries are gradually introducing the EU Entry/Exit System (EES) at external borders. Travellers may be required to provide biometric data (fingerprints/photo) during border checks.
Safety and Security
Malta is generally safe, but travellers should remain vigilant and take precautions against petty theft, especially in crowded areas and on public transport.
Terrorist attacks in Malta cannot be ruled out. Travellers are advised to remain vigilant, especially in areas frequented by tourists.
Local Laws
All visitors and residents are subject to Maltese laws and penalties.
Drugs (including cannabis)
Illegal drugs attract severe penalties for tourists. While Malta has legalised limited cannabis-related activity for residents under specific conditions, tourists should not assume cannabis is legal to possess or use.
