Entry and Exit
Singaporeans can visit Greece for up to 90 days within 180 days from the date of initial entry within the Schengen region without a visa, provided no employment is pursued.
Greece is part of the Schengen area. Entry into any of the European countries in the Schengen Area for short-term tourism, a business trip, or in transit to a non-Schengen destination, requires a minimum three months’ passport validity beyond the intended date of departure. Singaporeans should have their passports with them when crossing borders, even within the Schengen Area.
Safety and Security
Petty crime, including pickpocketing, snatch thefts, and bag slashing, is prevalent, especially in tourist areas and on public transport. Be aware of your surroundings and take care of your belongings. Avoid carrying large amounts of cash or wearing jewellery. Do not walk alone in isolated areas, especially at night.
Demonstrations may occur, especially in Athens. Avoid large public gatherings. These protests may disrupt transport services. Monitor the local news and make alternative arrangements in advance if necessary. Purchase comprehensive travel insurance before departure.
Local Laws
Indecent behaviour, including indecent exposure, is illegal. Penalties can be severe.
It is illegal to purchase counterfeit and pirated items, including bags, CDs, and DVDs. If in doubt, such purchases should be made in reputable stores in shopping malls. If a price is too good to be true, it probably is.
Smoking in indoor public places is illegal and carries a heavy fine.
The export of antiquities and cultural objects from Greece is strictly regulated by Greek Customs Authorities. A permit is required for the export of any antiquities or cultural objects from the country. Do not remove anything from archaeological or historical sites and avoid purchasing protected antiquities or cultural objects.
