Slovakia
Use our advice together with your own research from reputable sources to plan your trip.
Entry and Exit
Singaporeans can visit Slovakia for up to 90 days within 180 days from the date of initial entry within the Schengen region without a visa, provided no employment is pursued.
Slovakia is part of the Schengen Area. Entry into any of the European countries in the Schengen Area for short-term tourism, a business trip, or in transit to a non-Schengen destination, requires a minimum three months’ passport validity beyond the intended date of departure. We recommend that travellers should have at least 6 months’ passport validity. Singaporeans should have their passports with them when crossing borders, even within the Schengen Area.
As immigration requirements can change at short notice, travellers are advised to contact their travel agent or the Slovak Embassy in Jakarta, which is accredited to Singapore, for the latest information.
Safety and Security
Petty Crime: While the crime rate is generally low, petty crime such as pickpocketing and street theft does occur. Remain vigilant and watch over your personal belongings at all times. Beware of imposters who impersonate police officers and use fake IDs: if in doubt, offer to go down to the nearest police station or call 112 to verify their identity.
Occasional political demonstrations do take place in Bratislava and in major cities. Exercise caution, avoid affected areas, monitor local media coverage for developments, and follow the advice of local authorities.
Always conduct currency exchanges at a legitimate currency exchange office or reputable bank. Use ATMs at secure, monitored locations such as commercial banks, large hotels, and the airport. Ensure that credit card charges are accurate before signing, keep all receipts, and verify against your credit card statements.
Local Laws
Travellers should carry their passports with them at all times.
It is illegal to photograph military establishments. If in doubt, check with the local authorities.
