Working Visit by Senior Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Home Affairs Sim Ann to Shaanxi Province and Hubei Province, People's Republic of China, 12 to 15 July 2026
Senior Minister of State (SMS) in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Home Affairs Sim Ann visited Xi’an, Shaanxi and Wuhan, Hubei from 12 to 15 July 2026. SMS was accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Economic Development Board and Enterprise Singapore.
In Shaanxi, SMS called on Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Shaanxi Provincial Committee Zhao Yide. They reaffirmed the warm relations between Singapore and Shaanxi, and discussed potential ways to strengthen cooperation, including in trade and investment, people-to-people ties, and cultural exchanges.
SMS visited the Xi’an Jiaotong University, where she learnt more about Shaanxi’s higher education sector and efforts to develop talent. SMS also engaged companies in the innovation sector, and exchanged views on business developments and opportunities in Shaanxi.
In Hubei, SMS called on Governor of the Hubei Provincial People’s Government Li Dianxun, and was hosted to dinner by Vice Governor of the Hubei Provincial People’s Government Hu Yabo. They welcomed the role that Singapore companies have played in Hubei across various sectors, such as transport, logistics, and infrastructure and urban solutions. Both sides reaffirmed the warm relations between Singapore and Hubei, and discussed ways to advance Singapore-Hubei cooperation in areas of mutual interest, especially in trade and investment, innovation, education, and people-to-people exchanges. Both sides welcomed cooperation in new and emerging areas like the green and digital economies.
SMS visited Wuhan East Lake High-Tech Development Zone and received briefings about Hubei’s economic priorities and development. SMS also visited Wuhan University and discussed ways to enhance our partnerships between our Institutes of Higher Learning.
SMS will return to Singapore tomorrow morning.
