Visit by Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of National Development Alvin Tan to Bogotá, Colombia and Santiago, Chile 8 to 17 September 2026
Minister of State (MOS) in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of National Development Alvin Tan will visit Bogotá, Colombia and Santiago, Chile from 8 to 17 September 2026. This will be MOS Tan’s first visit to Latin America in his current capacity.
In Colombia, MOS Tan will call on Minister of Foreign Affairs Omar Bula Escobar and Vice Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism Sandra Carvajal. MOS Tan will also meet key business personalities.
In Chile, MOS Tan will co-chair the inaugural Singapore-Chile Political Consultations with Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Patricio Torres. MOS Tan will call on Minister of Foreign Affairs Francisco Pérez Mackenna, Minister of Social Development and Family María Jesús Wulf, and Undersecretary of Mining Álvaro González Gorroño.
MOS Tan will discuss ways to strengthen cooperation in areas including agri-trade, digitalisation, sustainability, and logistics, as well as opportunities to deepen economic integration between our two regions, leveraging the Pacific Alliance-Singapore Free Trade Agreement which entered into force for Singapore, Chile, and Peru on 3 May 2025. The Agreement is pending ratification by Colombia and Mexico.
MOS Tan will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
