Visit by Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan to the Republic of Palau for the 55th Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting 31 August to 1 September 2026

Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan will visit Koror, Palau from 31 August to 1 September 2026 to attend the 55^th Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) Leaders Meeting (PIFLM). The PIF is the key regional forum in the Pacific for cooperation among its members and engagement with external partners. Singapore has attended the PIFLM as a Dialogue Partner since our admission in 2022.

The theme of the 55^th PIFLM is “B.E.L.A.U. – Building Economies: Life. Action. Unity.”. Minister Balakrishnan will deliver remarks at the PIF Leaders Dialogue with Dialogue Partners and at the Leaders Ascent Dialogue on Climate-Smart Investment on 1 September 2026. Minister Balakrishnan will also have meetings with leaders from the Pacific.

Minister Balakrishnan’s visit builds on the longstanding relations between Singapore and the Pacific. As fellow small island states, Singapore and the Pacific share common interests and perspectives, including on global challenges such as climate change.

Minister Balakrishnan will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
