Visit by Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan to Johor, Malaysia 3 September 2026

Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan visited Johor, Malaysia, on 3 September 2026, at the invitation of the Regent of Johor His Royal Highness Tunku Ismail to attend the inaugural Johor Super Crown Polo Tournament.

In Johor, Minister Balakrishnan had an audience with the King of Malaysia His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim. He also met His Royal Highness Tunku Ismail and Johor Menteri Besar YAB Dato’ Onn Hafiz bin Ghazi. Both sides reaffirmed the close and longstanding ties between Singapore and Johor.

Minister Balakrishnan also officiated the opening of the new chancery of the Consulate-General of the Republic of Singapore in Johor Bahru. The new chancery reflects Singapore’s commitment to strengthening cooperation and relations with Johor, and enhances the Consulate-General’s capacity to provide consular services to Singaporeans in Johor.
