Visit by Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan to Cebu, the Philippines for the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Retreat and related meetings, 28 to 29 January 2026
Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan will attend the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Retreat, Informal Consultation on the Implementation of the Five-Point Consensus, and the Extended Informal Consultation on the Five-Point Consensus from 28 to 29 January 2026 in Cebu, the Philippines, at the invitation of the Philippines Secretary of Foreign Affairs Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro.
The ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Retreat is the first high-level meeting hosted by the Philippines as the 2026 ASEAN Chair, under the theme “Navigating Our Future, Together”. The Foreign Ministers will discuss ASEAN’s priorities for the year, take stock of cooperation with external partners, and exchange views on regional and international issues, including the situation in Myanmar. Singapore will work with ASEAN Chair the Philippines and other ASEAN Member States to help deliver on the Philippines’ substantive agenda throughout the year.
Minister Balakrishnan will also have bilateral meetings with his ASEAN counterparts on the sidelines of the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Retreat.
Minister Balakrishnan will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
