Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee Yin Li called on Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong today.
Prime Minister Wong and Secretary Yin reaffirmed the substantive and multi-faceted relations between Singapore and China, underpinned by the upgrade to an “All-Round High-Quality Future-Oriented Partnership” in April 2023. They also discussed the close cooperation between Singapore and Beijing Municipality in culture, education, healthcare, human resource development, and innovation. Prime Minister Wong and Secretary Yin agreed to strengthen cooperation between Singapore and Beijing Municipality in areas of mutual interest.
Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat hosted Secretary Yin to lunch the previous day. Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan was also in attendance. They took stock of the progress of the Memorandum of Understanding on Strengthening Singapore-Beijing Cooperation and People-to-People Exchanges since it was signed in March 2023. They welcomed the good momentum of cooperation between Singapore and Beijing Municipality, and were keen to strengthen cooperation in science and technology to tackle shared global challenges like climate change and ageing populations. Minister Balakrishnan and Secretary Yin also witnessed the exchange of several Memoranda of Understanding and Agreements in the fields of transport, green energy, and healthcare.
