State Visit by President Tharman Shanmugaratnam to Malaysia, 12 to 15 July 2026

President Tharman Shanmugaratnam will make a State Visit to Malaysia from 12 to 15 July 2026 at the invitation of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia. This will be President Tharman’s first State Visit to Malaysia and follows His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim’s State Visit to Singapore in May 2024. During the visit, President Tharman will have meetings in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.

In Kuala Lumpur, President Tharman will be accorded a State Welcome Ceremony at Istana Negara, after which he will call on His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim and Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia. Their Majesties will host a State Banquet in President Tharman’s honour. President Tharman will receive a call by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. President Tharman will also meet leaders from the economic and finance sectors at the Kuala Lumpur Business Club, engage business leaders at a breakfast roundtable, and attend a reception hosted for Overseas Singaporeans in Malaysia.

In Selangor, President Tharman will have an audience with His Royal Highness Sharafuddin Idris Shah Al-Haj ibni Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Al-Haj, Sultan of Selangor. President Tharman will also meet Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, Menteri Besar of Selangor.

President Tharman will be accompanied by Mrs Jane Ittogi Shanmugaratnam, Minister for Sustainability and the Environment and Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations Grace Fu, Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Social and Family Development Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim, Mayor of Central Singapore Denise Phua, Members of Parliament Nadia Samdin and Edward Chia, and officials from the President’s Office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment.
