State Visit by General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam To Lam, 28 to 31 May 2026

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam To Lam will make a State Visit to Singapore from 28 to 31 May 2026 at the invitation of President Tharman Shanmugaratnam. This is President Lam’s first visit to Singapore in his capacity as President.

President Lam’s visit affirms the strong and multifaceted relationship between Singapore and Vietnam, which was upgraded to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) in March 2025.

On 29 May, President Lam will receive a ceremonial welcome by President Tharman, followed by a call on President Tharman, and a meeting with Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong. President Tharman and Mrs Jane Ittogi Shanmugaratnam will also host a State Banquet in honour of President Lam and First Lady Madam Ngo Phuong Ly. In the evening, President Lam will deliver the Keynote Speech at the 23^rd International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) Shangri-La Dialogue.

On 30 May 2026, Speaker of Parliament Seah Kian Peng will call on President Lam. President Lam and Prime Minister Wong will participate in a tree-planting ceremony. President Lam will also be hosted to separate meals by Prime Minister Wong and Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

President Lam will be accompanied by First Lady Ly, as well as Ministers and senior officials from Vietnam.
