Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Bin Jassim Al Thani, will visit Singapore from 23 to 25 August 2023 at the invitation of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. This will be Sheikh Mohammed’s first visit to Singapore as Prime Minister.

There will be an official welcome ceremony for Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed at the Istana on 24 August. He will separately call on President Halimah Yacob and Prime Minister Lee, who will host an Official Lunch in his honour. Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed will also have a new orchid hybrid named in his honour. Later that evening, Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean will host dinner for Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed.

Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed and Senior Minister Teo will co-chair the 8th Qatar-Singapore High-Level Joint Committee (HLJC) meeting on 25 August. Established in 2006, the HLJC is the key platform which charts the strategic direction for Qatar-Singapore relations. Following the HLJC meeting, Senior Minister Teo will host Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed to lunch. Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed will also deliver the inaugural International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) Raffles Lecture titled “Small States: Strategies for Success in a Competitive World”.

Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed will be accompanied by Minister of Finance His Excellency Ali Bin Ahmed Al Kuwari; Minister of Commerce and Industry His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Bin Qassim Al Abdullah Al Thani; Minister of Education and Higher Education Her Excellency Buthaina Bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi; Minister of Social Development and Family Her Excellency Mariam Bint Ali Bin Nasser Al Misnad; Group CEO of Qatar Airways and Chairman of Qatar Tourism His Excellency Akbar Al Baker; President of the Civil Service and Governmental Development Bureau His Excellency Abdulaziz Bin Nasser Bin Mubarak Al Khalifa; Minister of State and Chairman of Qatar Free Zones Authority His Excellency Ahmad Bin Mohammed Al Sayed; and Qatar Investment Authority Head of Investments for Asia and Africa His Excellency Sheikh Faisal Bin Thani Al Thani.
