Official Visit by Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov, 21 to 22 June 2026

         Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov called on Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong on 22 June 2026. They reaffirmed the warm and friendly ties between both countries. Prime Minister Wong welcomed Uzbekistan’s interest to expand cooperation with Singapore in trade and investment and deepen its engagement with ASEAN. Prime Minister Wong and Minister Saidov also exchanged views on regional and international developments.

         Minister Saidov met and was hosted to lunch by Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan. They reaffirmed the steady momentum of high-level exchanges and took stock of the growing bilateral account, including new areas for collaboration in food security and education. Minister Balakrishnan welcomed Uzbekistan’s interests in strengthening ties with ASEAN and Southeast Asia, and expressed Singapore’s interest to work with Uzbekistan to deepen engagements with Central Asia.

         Minister Saidov also met Minister for Sustainability and the Environment and Minister in-charge of Trade Relations​ Grace Fu. The Ministers reaffirmed the growing economic ties between Singapore and Uzbekistan. They discussed opportunities for economic cooperation, including through knowledge exchange in sustainability and water management. Both sides also welcomed further efforts to strengthen trade, investment and business linkages, and exchanged views on global developments.
