Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan to Attend the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, USA, 22 to 28 September 2026

Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan will attend the 81^st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, USA, from 22 to 28 September 2026.

Minister Balakrishnan will host several high-level events, including the Global Governance Group Ministerial Meeting and a reception for the Forum of Small States (FOSS). He will co-chair the ASEAN-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting with Bahraini Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Abdullatif Bin Rashid Al Zayani and attend the ASEAN-Pacific Alliance Ministerial Meeting. He will represent Singapore at events including the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS) Leaders’ Meeting, the High-Level Ministerial Meeting of the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, and the High-Level Meeting on the Global Development Initiative. He will also deliver a speech at the Asia Society and engage policymakers and academics on regional geopolitics and emerging issues.

Minister Balakrishnan will deliver Singapore’s national statement at the General Debate of the UNGA on 26 September 2026.

Minister Balakrishnan will meet his foreign counterparts as well as UN and US personalities based in New York. He will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
