COMMENTS BY MFA SPOKESMAN

In response to press queries, the MFA Spokesman said, "Singapore welcomes the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) adoption of the resolution on 10 June 1999 to resolve the Kosovo crisis. The resolution is a significant step towards ending the humanitarian disaster in Kosovo and restoring peace and stability in the region. Singapore commends all parties that have played a role in finding a political solution to the conflict. The UN has a complex and difficult task ahead. We urge all parties to give their full support to the UN in implementing the resolution, especially in providing relief to and ensuring the safe return of the people of Kosovo who have suffered greatly."
