Referring to the attempted assassination of Dr Jose Ramos-Horta, President of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste at his home in Dili on 11 February 2008, the MFA Spokesman said:

"Singapore is shocked and appalled at the shooting of President Ramos-Horta at his residence. We wish President Ramos-Horta a full recovery, and hope that calm will be restored in the country as soon as possible."
