In response to media queries on the sinking of a passenger ship in Indonesia with 850 passengers reportedly onboard, a MFA spokesman said:

"The Singapore Embassy in Jakarta is in touch with the local authorities on this accident. So far, there have been no reports of Singaporean casualties. Singaporeans who are concerned about the safety of their relatives and friends may wish to call the MFA Duty Office. The Ministry's contact details are as follows:
