In response to media queries on Japan's decision to participate in the Trans-Pacific Partnership negotiations, MFA Spokesman said:
This is extremely welcome news. Singapore has always strongly supported Japan's participation in the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) negotiations. This is a very significant decision that will benefit the entire region. Japan is a key global and regional economic player, and its participation in the TPP brings us one important step closer towards our goal of a Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific. We look forward to working closely with Japan in the TPP negotiations.
